Marigold was founded in 2014 to combat fast fashion and promote local Quebec fashion...

...but who is behind this promising initiative?

You've probably already bought Marigold clothes. Your favorite piece in your wardrobe might even be a Marigold item.

The fabric is soft, comfortable, and original. The stitching is precise. The pieces are unique...

...but have you ever wondered who is behind the Marigold label on your clothes?

Marilyne Baril became familiar with sewing at a very young age, thanks to her grandmother. This activity became a passion, and from an early age, Marilyne knew she wanted to make it her profession.

*Marilyne, a girl boss from a young age!*

Full of ambition and creative ideas, she began her fashion studies. She studied Fashion Design at CEGEP, then pursued her bachelor's degree in Fashion Design Management at the École Supérieure de Mode.

But she didn't feel ready to start her own business yet. So, she worked for a while in the industry, for two large Quebec fast fashion companies.

These two companies were a very good experience for Marilyne. She enjoyed working there. But she was confronted with the sad reality of fast fashion.

She was already aware of the polluting and unethical aspects of fast fashion. But after these experiences, she understood the impact she could have as a fashion designer. And she really wanted to create a clothing brand that reflected her and aligned with her values.

This is how Marigold was born in 2014, founded on Marilyne's own values that emphasize slow fashion and local fashion.

Today, Marigold has evolved a lot. And so has Marilyne Baril.

Designer, founder, owner, and now mother of two adorable children, she is an entrepreneur who fights every day against fast fashion to preserve our beautiful planet. 🌎

Marigold is now a well-established small business in Verdun since 2020, with its super team of 5 passionate people.

In short, that's the end of the story of the little hands behind your Marigold garment!

But the story for Marilyne Baril and Marigold continues...

Thank you for following and supporting us. It is thanks to you that the fight against fast fashion is possible!

See you soon,

The Marigold team 🌸
