A forward-looking initiative for local Quebec fashion: ACMI, the new symbol that amplifies the voice of Quebec creators in a competitive environment

Ten Quebec designers, including Marilyne Baril, reached a new milestone this week with the launch of the Association des créateurs.trices de mode indépendants.es (ACMI), unveiled on September 25 at the conclusion of Printemps des Créateurs, an event co-founded by Eve Lavoie and MAS Montreal, which promotes local Quebec fashion and brought together 22 local designers.

ACMI and its mission

Born from a simple observation—the lack of representation for independent designers in a competitive environment—ACMI aims to change the game. Ten passionate Quebec designers have united to elevate the voice of local talent and build a common platform for recognition and solidarity:

Naomie Caron (Selfish Swimwear), Julie Magnan (Julei Design), Mélissa Bolduc (Melow), Marilyne Baril (Marigold), Jennifer Glasgow (Jennifer Glasgow), Judith Desjardins (Bodybag), Eve Gravel (Eve Gravel), Marie-Jo Dorval (Kids Stuff), Eve Lavoie (Eve Lavoie), Marie-Ève Proulx (Odeyalo)

Beyond a mere grouping, it is a genuine movement taking root. The association is built on strong values: respect, transparency, collaboration, and commitment to local manufacturing. Its mission is to support emerging talent, promote independent expertise, and showcase ethical and sustainable Quebec fashion, while raising public awareness about the importance of encouraging a responsible industry.
